Day 2: London - Change of Guards and Kensington High Street

Change of Guards and Kensington High Street

Left home early to make sure we reach in time to see the Change of Guards at Buckingham Palace.

Change of guards ceremony - Buckingham Palace

Change of guards

We took the tube to Green Park station, walked to Buckingham Palace and were settled in a spot by 11am for the 11:30am ceremony. The Guards marched by, and rode on horseback in their smart uniforms, wondering how they feel in their stiff uniforms and bearskin hats in the hot sun, with hundreds of tourists clicking pictures and taking videos nonstop. Maybe one of the guards wants to secretly wave or smile at the tourists, but alas duty calls!

After the ceremony, we marveled at the Buckingham Palace, thinking if anybody from the Royal family is actually behind one of the many windows that face the street. Soon tourists started trickling out of the area and we made our way back too, back through Green Park and to the tube station.

We stopped at the Kensington High street station on the way home (had to change lines to reach there). I was looking forward to walking down the high street and also have lunch there. We walked past the stores, (took a right after coming out of the station) and came around to a Chinese restaurant called Stick and Spoon, had some noodles and then had some delicious Tres Leche cake and ChocoFlan  and drinks at Lupita, Mexican cuisine place next door. (should have had lunch there too).

That ended our day on a sweet note!
